If all goes to plan, during the summer the kitchen at St Anne’s is going to be extended and refurbished. Along with that, the drains under the carpark are going to be checked prior to the carpark being re-tarmacked. Whilst it has been discussed at regular intervals over many years, a decision at last year’s Annual District Church Meeting was made to move the project forward - which all goes to show that members of the church are able to influence what goes on both in the short and in the long term. We hope that the new kitchen, up to standards that the Environmental Health Department will be pleased with, will enable the church and hall to be used even more effectively.
Whilst we will be using the majority of the church’s reserves for this project, the Vicar called the members together at the end of January to discuss the financial implications, which were that by the end of September we should need around an additional £20,000. He also said that this is primarily a matter for prayer, as we have proved in the past how generous God is to us. Once the kitchen is completed and the bills all paid, we will then need to build up our reserves again for the next big project, which could be a new roof. Hopefully that will not be needed too soon.
There will be inevitably some disruption to activities during the summer months, which we apologise for now. We will endeavour to ensure that the regular hirers are not inconvenienced more than absolutely necessary.
